2020 Live Wreath Fundraiser

We're beyond excited to be able to have our 4th annual Vormitaag Tree Farm Live Wreath Fundraiser!

These gorgeous Fraiser Fir live wreaths are made locally right here in West Michigan. Due to their freshness they last for months and still look beautiful, just change out decorations with the next holiday. Bonus - they smell AMAZING!

Wreaths will be ready for pick up BEFORE Thanksgiving so if you're traveling for the holidays you can bring one for a hostess gift!

Halloween Festivities Donations

As with EVERYTHING thing year, Halloween at school is going to be different.

To keep our kids and families safe, ZPS is adhering to the Return to Learning Road Map guidelines.  We can't do costumes, parades or have classroom volunteers, BUT the teachers will be planning some Halloween activities within their rooms.

ZQuest Parent Group would like to provide an extra-special pre-packaged Halloween treat for our students .  However, due to our inability to have fundraisers this year, The ZQuest Parent Group is being extremely careful with our budget in case we need to use it for "emergency" things that are needed.

We understand that for many of us, these are hard times physically, emotionally, and financially.

Therefore, THERE IS NO PRESSURE TO MAKE A DONATION.

However, if you are willing and able, we would gratefully accept your gift towards the Halloween treats.

Thank you for all of your support.

And as always, if your family has any need, please contact Leslie Rindfliesch and she will anonymously help us try to meet your need.  Because ZQuest is about family.  And we are all in this together.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

If you haven't filled out an application for free and reduced lunch (in most cases this is a yearly renewal and you need to reapply), there is still time to do so!

Even if you don't think you will qualify, filling out the application helps the school by providing us with additional funding from the government.

Volunteering & Building Entry Requirements

DUE TO COVID, THERE IS NO VOLUNTEERING OR BUILDING ENTRY FOR PARENTS AT THIS TIME.  WE WILL UPDATE AS INFORMATION CHANGES.

Please re-submit or submit your information for a background check in August by going to the following website:

https://v2ms.zps.org/Login.aspx

You will then be asked to re-submit your fingerprints and information through our volunteer/visitor computer (in the office).  This machine prints name tags once you log in when you are entering the building/classroom areas.

  • If you do not have a visible green name tag on your clothes, you will be stopped and asked to return to the office.

  • If your name tag is yellow, it indicates that your background check has not been fulfilled yet and you will be asked to return to the office.

  • If your name tag is red, you are NOT permitted into the building at all (but please know that if you receive a letter in the mail from our Volunteer and Background Coordinator, you may appeal your denial through a letter format, and that is good for the remainder of your children’s schooling in Zeeland).

This system is for the safety of our staff and students.  Thank you for helping us ensure their safety!

Family Directory

One of ZQuest's guiding principles is the belief that relationships and community are vital in the learning process.  Community is important.

To facilitate parents and students in connecting with other families for play dates, leisure activities and school functions, the ZQuest Parent Group has a Family Directory.

This directory is completely voluntary.  It only contains information from parents who submit their information to make it public to ZQuest Families.  This information is password protected, and only students, parents or guardians of ZQuest have access to this information.

If you would like, you can submit your information to the directory.  Once you submit your information, you will receive the password to the directory and information on how to access it.

Click on this link to submit your information for 2019-2020 Directory:

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Michigan 3rd Grade Reading Legislation

In 2016, Michigan Legislature passed a bill to ensure that all children exiting 3rd grade are proficient in reading.  Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, students must show proficiency on the year end state assessment to be promoted to 4th grade.  School staff is required to provide ongoing assessment and inform parents of possible student difficulty by creating an IRIP (individualized reading improvement plan).

ZPS approaches this legislation not as a requirement, rather an opportunity to continue to provide the best possible reading instruction for all students.  We are dedicated to using the assessment data gathered to plan for WIN and WIN+ interventions that support student learning.  We will continue to partner with parents to ensure success for all.

This week, ZPS students took home (ZQ students will bring it home at the end of the week, March 2) an informational brochure explaining the new requirement.  Please take time to read through the material and ask any questions you might have.

Additionally, an informational video has been developed to provide clarity on this topic.

Information is also available on the ZPS website.
